Loas...the unexpected beauty words

Image
Sabadee!!!  Words cannot explain the beauty I saw in this country. I went not knowing what to expect and I was very pleased :) . I loved every minute that I spent in Laos. Mind you some past travels have not been smart and has made Laos put on a curfew for everyone so everything shuts down at about 1130 at night .....  First day - April 20th The day we crossed the Thailand boarder to get to Laos. To do this we had to take a bus to a big river , the mankong river. You are then too get on a boat to cross over to Laos area. Once there we had to fill out the wonderful paper work that we do once a week at this point in our travel ... I have now memorized my pass port number haha. After filling out the paper work you then have to wait around for your visa. The visa was about 30 US dollars. Good thing I had that currency on me because they wanted US dollars. Once getting our visa we went to find the office for the Gibbon Experience! Once there we filled out our will paper work ;) we were then

I am once again at a internet cafe in Loas. I need to play catch up with my entries. I have been so busy that because my iTouch went missing/stolen in beginning of Thailand my entries have been few and far between. I have only 30 minutes to tell you all about the land of Pad Thai, Thailand!!! On the first day we started at a good cheep hostel called Southern Fried Rice. This is were we met up with Stephaine and her older brother. We then walked around town and saw Kata beach. We sat and talked on the beach and watched the sunset. Life is hard, I know. . . After this we decided to go to this putt putt golf. We drank beers while venturing around this course. After golf we went for dinner. Chrisitie and I were both very very tired from traveling for about 2 straight days to get to Thailand. So we went home and slept. We then got up early to take a bus to the port. We were to then get on a boat to get to Phi Phi island. Have you seen the movie , "The Beach?" parts of this movie w

Beautiful Beaches ... THE PHILIPPINES!

As I sit here at a interenet Cafe in Huay Xai, I realize that I should write and update my blog because I was in the Philippines about 3 weeks ago and SO MUCH has happened. I was only in the philippines for about one week. Chrisitie and I met here in the Philippines airport. We then had to get onto another airplane to get to BOracay. Boracay is a beautiful place filled with awesome beaches, bars and peopple. BTW this keyboard and computer sucks here in this hole in the wall interenet cafe on the borader of Thailand and Loas. This will not be a long entery, just some highlights that everyione should know about.THis trip did consist of lots of relaxing on the beaches. One of the first nights we did the boracay pubcrawl! This was full of meeting lots of amazing people and having a great time with allof them. We played some fun games on the beach between the bars. We stayed at a wonderful hostel called Frendz Hostel . We met so many people here also and they all gave us great information a

Jakarta - rough on the outside a gem inside!

Image
Let me start off by saying I would have had a complete different experience if I didn't have 2 of the most fantastic hostesses! If your reading this, you know who you are ;) . I don't know if that experience would of been bad but I did get to see and learn more about Jakarta than a normal backpacker traveling through would. Jakarta has about 10 million people living in the city and about 10 million traveling in and out of the city. The city does not have a subway! If there was one word that Lauren and Monica taught me how to say in Indonesian it was traffic! Lauren and I took full advantage of the traffic we sat in to get to know one another! So of course it worked in our favor :) . Before writing on this blog , I wrote in my travel journal and took up like 5 pages of bullet points of things we did each day! Even with all the traffic I cannot believe how much I did in Jakarta ! I guess we took a lot of "short cuts." This is when we take a car or flight early in th

Bali full of smiles and beauty

I got to the Bali airport HOURS before my flight to Jakarta because of my friends flight schedule. So as I sit here at the Starbucks in the Bali airport, I think of my trip to Bali and I am left with nothing but a smile. Bali was full of people that work very very hard for practically nothing but still love life and always have a smile on their face. The culture was so warm and welcoming. The only thing I wish I did differently is to go diving but I ran out of time! We went around most of the island seeing different areas within our 8 days here! We started in the southern part of the island Pecatu. We sat on the beach with huge waves and watched surfers and sat at out pool and bungalow for the first 4 days. It was a lot of R&R. Something that we had not done in a long long time :) . While there Ryan (Stephanie's bro) and I rented motor bikes because that is the only way to get into town from where we were. Taxi was only for longer distances and needed to reserve. Let me just
