Busy being a teacher!

Last weekend Alicia Hays came to visit me from Deajeon , that was a lot of fun. We spent most of the time hanging out with people I knew and walking around town and trying new fun places to eat. We didn't do much more adventuring than that... Once Alicia posts pictures of the weekend I will post some on here. She also brought 2 of her friends from her school. It was nice to get to know them. I plan to do a 5K in Deajeon with in the next couple of months. I am excited. It is much easier to run here. :) ... I am soon going to look into rock climbing and I have already gone to a hot yoga class. The class was all in Korean but it was easy to fallow. I enjoyed it. The week at school is going well. We are taking our kids on a field trip this friday! :) i am super super excited to see how this goes. I am dealing with a lot of "kid" issues that I am not really trained for but I am glad to of taken some of those philosophy classes in college.   Another interesting thing that happe...

One Month!

WOW! I cannot believe I have been gone for a MONTH! I went out last night to celebrate St. Patricks day! It was a lot of fun! I had a long week of being sick but I did get over it quick. I then lost my voice because of yelling at students and being sick at the same time. I am posting some pictures of some more of my kids that are my very new kids at the school and they can barely speak ANY english. We are working on 123 and abc . We are also working on how to ask to go to the bathroom properly and how to sit nicely in your seat. It can get frustrating when kids fight eachother and yell in korean because I have NO idea what is going on :) . I just have to put kids in the corner at that point. I have to make sure they all have their outdoor shoes on and backpacks all ready and jacket on properly before leaving the school or else I will have a mom calling complaining that I do not care about her kid. It is very interesting that they complain about the sm...

SLP - teaching english! 3/5/12

Image
Hello loved ones!  Sorry I have not wrote lately!  I have been going through some MAJOR changes! I started my first day at SLP last Friday. This day was CHAOS! My yellow class speaks in a matter of yes's and no's. I believe that they understand more then they speak at the moment. My other kindergarden class is named Orange. Pictures of Orange students are on this blog post! They are ALL so awesome and adorable! This "orange" class was "yellow" class last time. I saw them graduate from yellow and now I am their teacher in orange class. They all have american names. Sometimes the names can get kind of crazy because their parents pick their names or they do! For example, the "bigger" little guy, his name is Antarctica! :) I mainly sing and dance for my yellow class and my orange class speaks english well and we are working on capital letters and lower case letters. As I type, I am waiting for my clothes to finish being washed and dried. There is ...

In Pohang South Korea!

Image
Helloooo from Pohang!  I arrived here last monday, Feb. 20th 2012. I was in Daejeon for 3 days with Alicia Hays and saw Daejeon for those days and it was very interesting and I got to meet some of the new teachers for her school there in Daejeon. We went out to eat and had much problems because of the miss communication and so we ended up eating dinner without any water or anything to drink because we did not know how to order our drinks. While in Daejeon, the best thing that Alicia and I spent time doing was going on a hike up a mountain that was located in the middle of the city. This mountain was steep and kind of remembered me of a nice hike in Colorado. As we walked up the hill, there was stops were there was "outdoor work out areas." Pictures to kind of explain. We then get to the top of the "mountain" we had a view the city of Daejeon. I then left on Monday the 20th on a bus at 7 am to get to Pohang at about 11am. On the way to Pohang the b...

I then received my final visa that allows me to enter and work on South Korea for a year! I will not officially be teaching english in Pohang, South Korea! I leave on a plane around 12 tomorrow the 16th of Feb. to Seoul South Korea. I will be getting in on the 17th at 630pm. It is only a 12 hour flight BUT S. Korea is WAY ahead! :) ... Today (the 15th) Alicia and I went and toured Alcatraz! It was amazing and the weather was clear! but it was kind of cold because of the wind. We then walk around fishermans warth. Everything was awesome today and I am excited to travel tomorrow! LOTS more to come! and LOTS of pics to come. MUCH LOVE.

Life is Changing

My life is changing in HUGE ways so I figured that writing on this blog about my life is going to be important and fun! Change is a good thing! I am nervous but excited all at the same time. I moved back to Denver from Glenwood Springs a month ago. I recently got a serving job at Bonefish Grill in Greenwood Village. I love it. I cannot wait for what next month is too bring me. I will be updating on what that awesome month means in a bit. “A year from now you will wish you had started today.” -Karen Lamb
